La Herradura

La Herradura is one of the few remaining un-spoilt villages on the Costa Tropical that can offer a truly Spanish experience in a tranquil environment. La Herradura, whilst relatively small, does have a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants including a daily fresh meat, fish and vegetable market, supermarkets, baker, banks, chemists, hairdressers etc. Many of the bars and restaurants are situated on or close to the beach making this the ideal place to idle your days whilst relaxing in the sunshine. For the more active there is a wide range of water sports including water skiing, windsurfing, sailing and scuba diving, tennis, hang gliding and horse riding are also available locally. La Herradura is a place where you can sit and relax over a coffee, watching the people go by, enjoying the view.

La Herradura is an ideal centre from which to explore the cultural history of Spain, being less than an hour from the historic city of Granada (and the Alhambra) and the skiing facilities in the Sierra Nevada National Park. Even closer are the Alpujarras, a peaceful haven and the last bastion of the Moors. If you want to get away from the peace and quiet you can go over to Almunecar, with its myriad of winding streets and tapas bars. To the west lies the tourist town of Nerja, with pleasant beaches and numerous restaurants and bars.
